Summer Lovin'

This week with Cooking with Cricut we're all wondering "Where'd Summer Go?"

Summer seemed to go by SO fast and it was VERY hot here in the mid-west.  I was lucky enough to have my family from Alabama visit for a week.  We had fun seeing the sights of Kansas City and especially the new Sea Life Aquarium that recently opened in our area.

Experiencing the aquarium with my 3 year old great nephew was amazing and inspired my layout below.

Recipe:
Cricut Cartridge - Life is a Beach (pages 68  & 69)
Glitter Paper
Black Rhinestone

WARNING:  While using this paper -- the glitter gets EVERYWHERE.
I now have a dedicated Cricut mat to use for my glitter paper.  :)

I hope you join in on the fun and link up your
summer inspired creation at Cooking with Cricut

SURPRISE "Thank You" Blog Hop

Welcome to Cooking With Cricut’s

very special

SURPRISE “Thank You” Blog Hop

Why is it so special?
There are a couple of reasons!

The first reason -- it is our
100th Cooking With Cricut challenge
and the second (and most important) is to

THANK
our wonderful leader
and “Executive Chef”

 Melinda Beltran!!!

To find out more about Melin please visit Cooking With Cricut.

If you came from Becky's blog, Scrap Circus, you’re in the right place!
If you’ve joined us in mid-hop and would like to start at the beginning,
please head back to Cooking With Cricut –
you won’t want to miss any of these awesome cards!!

Here's my card for Melin.......

The card base was made using the Birthday Bash cartridge.

I cut two card bases so that I could have a shadow for the inside of the card.

The font is CK Tween.

Love this stamp!!!

The card base can be found on the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge
on page 40 (card/tag feature).

Funny little note to self.....next time I have an idea "pop" into my head
make sure I have a cartridge that has the image I need!   LOL :o)
I tried making another card but couldn't get this one out of my head--
I wanted to use this pretty paper!

Thanks so much for hopping with us and celebrating our "Executive Chef".
She is an inspiration to us all!!

We hope you’ll join us and leave your own “thank you” in the
comment section for Melin at CWC!  Now it’s time to head on
over to Olivia at ORM Crafty Nights
she’s the next stop on this party train!!

My First Cartridge Showcase -- Nifty Fifties!

Welcome to my first Cooking with Cricut Cartridge Showcase --  NIFTY FIFTIES!

First up is a ROCKIN’ layout!

It was fun to use large sized cuts to accent the pages and play off of the photos!
Layout created with Cricut Craft Room

For the layout --
Route 66 sign (page 38)
Hotel Sign (page 49) was personalized using the
Nifty Fifties font with the name of the school.
Juke Box (page 56)
Car (page 24)
The sign’s background was created using the Cuttlebug “Swiss Dots” embossing folder.

This cartridge is very versatile; you can make layouts (like the one above),
decorations, and cards for girls…

You’re the Cat’s Meow Card

For the card --

Cat (page 23) was cut at 4”.
Instead of cutting the small whites of her eyes
I used a Signo White Pigment ink pen (UM-153).
Her collar is Magenta stickles.
The white background was created using the Cuttlebug “Seeing Spots” embossing folder.
Stamp is My Pink Stamper More Punny-licious using VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

And cards for Dad……..
Crusin’ By Birthday Card

For the card --
Car1 (page 24)
I really like how using the shimmery silver cardstock looks!
The teal background was created using the Cuttlebug “Seeing Spots” embossing folder.
A Black Glaze pen was used on the tires to give them a shinny look.
Inside sentiment created on my computer.

And cards for friends……..
Poodles of Laughter Card

For the card --
Poodle (page 29) was cut at 4”.

The Poodle’s fur was created using Marvy’s Snow Marker pen and a heat gun. (My first time…)
Stamp is My Pink Stamper More Punny-licious using VersaFine Onyx Black ink.

And cards for boys…….
Rocket Card

For the card --
Rocket (page 28) was cut at 4”.

The white background was created using the
Cuttlebug  “Swiss Dots” embossing folder.
Silver nail-heads
Stamp is Making Memories Giggle Kids Boy (no. 31927)
using VersaFine Onyx Black ink (my NEW FAVORITE ink).

The possibilities are endless with the Nifty Fifties cartridge.
It has a fun font and lots of images that can be used for a variety of events!!
Images include everything from a sewing machine to a Tiki Bar sign!
Remember the pink lawn flamingo’s????
Yep, they are in there too!

Just looking through the booklet I’ve come up with other ideas for cards and layouts…stayed tuned….you’ll be seeing more of this cartridge!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a "Nifty" Crafty Day!

A "Sweet" Card

This week at Cooking with Cricut the Design Team made cards for an amazing young lady, Olivia.

Olivia's story, as told by family friend, Karen.

Olivia is a 9-year-old with a sparkling heart, in need of extra love and encouragement.  My lifelong friend, her mother, lost her battle to cancer in 2011. Facing this new reality has been extremely hard for Olivia. As valiantly as our beloved Erika fought cancer, Olivia fights to put an end to this terrible disease.

To read more about Olivia please visit the Madison's "I Feel The Love" project website here

For this week's special challenge I created this shaped card --

This card was created using Cricut Craft Room to weld the cupcakes together.

Cricut Cartridges - Once Upon a Princess and Tags, Bags, Boxes and More
Card Stock -Recollections and patterned paper from my scrap pile
Stamp - Paper Smooches
Ink - Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Antique Linen)
Colorbox (Apple Green)

Misc. - Rhinestones, crinkle ribbon

Now it's your turn.  Create a card for Olivia (see here for address)
and make sure to link up over at Cooking with Cricut!
I can't wait to see what amazing cards you make for this amazing young lady.
